Qualcomm becomes the first chipset company to support Microsoft Windows Phone 7 series
Qualcomm Incorporated, a leading developer and innovator of wireless technologies, products and services, announced that it is the first chipset company that will support, with its integrated chipset solutions and system software, commercial launches of phones based on Microsoft Corp.’s Windows Phone 7 Series.
The Company is working with Microsoft and multiple device manufacturers on smartphones powered by its Snapdragon™ platforms and running Windows Phone 7 Series software, currently scheduled to begin launching in time for the 2010 holiday season. Microsoft and Qtel Sign Strategic Alliance At Mobile World Congress
Microsoft Corp. and Qatar Telecom (Qtel) announced today the signing of a broad strategic alliance to bring together integrated cloud-based services, software applications, mobile services and devices over Qtel’s converged network. The alliance aims to expand Qtel’s service portfolio, helping redefine the digital work style and lifestyle of their subscribers. The announcement was made at Mobile World Congress 2010.
The alliance is designed to enable both companies to bring together their respective assets and collective strengths to offer a range of products and services that help drive productivity while enabling customers to be more agile in their everyday technology needs. It will also look to deliver a number of new digital entertainment experiences for consumers to enjoy in the home and on the go.
Dr. Nasser Marafih, chief executive officer of Qtel, said Qtel and Microsoft would collaborate to deliver truly integrated and innovative communications services to business and consumer markets.

Microsoft getting serious about Windows Marketplace for Mobile
With the release of Windows Phone 7 Series, Microsoft is getting serious about it’s Mobile Marketplace. They are now focusing on fixing all the issues related to it’s Windows Marketplace for Mobile and coming up with big new changes. Here is what they released today.
World View: previously known as “geo selector”, the World View feature will allow Marketplace users to browse and purchase applications from different geographic catalogs. For example, a user in France could choose to browse the English US catalog, or a user in Canada could browse the catalog from Japan. All application prices will show up in the user’s local currency and Microsoft will be in touch with registered independent software vendors (ISVs) in the weeks ahead to provide step-by-step instructions on how to re-price their apps for all markets.
