Anton D. Nagy - Windows Mobile MVP from Romania

Tell us who you are?
My name is Anton D. Nagy and I come from Oradea, Romania. I finished law school and have a master’s degree in law while previously graduating philology in high school. IT – generally – and Windows Mobile/Phone – especially – is one of my main hobbies and my knowledge in these fields is exclusively self-taught.

I am a Senior Editor of pocketnow.com, the no. 1 resource for Windows Phone and Smartphone news, reviews and video. I’ve been writing for pocketnow.com since August 2008, and have generated more than 500 active posts to date (and rising at an approximate 20-25 posts/month rate).

Tell us about your MVP history, when were you first awarded?
My MVP history is rather short and it’s being written as we speak, with each day. I’ve received the Microsoft Windows Mobile MVP award for the first time on April 1, 2010 at my first nomination and at the time of this interview I am only a three week old MVP.

What do you do in order to keep up with latest tools and technologies?
I read and experiment a lot. Every day is about learning something new and the internet is full of information you can use (blogs, forums, twitter, communities, etc.).

VeriSign to Secure Applications in Windows Marketplace for Mobile

View Comments

VeriSign, Inc. the trusted provider of Internet infrastructure for the networked world, has been selected by Microsoft Corp. to provide code signing services for applications distributed through Windows Marketplace for Mobile.

Microsoft is relying on VeriSign Code Signing Services to safeguard applications developed for Windows phones. When a mobile application is signed with a VeriSign Code Signing Certificate, it signals to Windows phone owners that the application comes from a trusted publisher. A code signing certificate serves as virtual “shrink wrap” for downloaded applications by applying a digital signature that is independently verified by VeriSign. A broken digital signature tells users that the application has been tampered with or modified, and protects them from hackers or malicious code.

“Code signing follows the best practices of software development, and helps to ensure that all Windows phone applications will install and run with the right privileges — and without limiting features or functionality,” said Jason Lim, director of ISV and developer experience at Microsoft. “We protect applications with VeriSign Code Signing Certificates because only VeriSign offers the robustness and scale that a fast-growing applications store demands. This world-class, customizable code signing solution protects our investment in Windows Marketplace for Mobile, and gives us more ways to control the integrity and quality of the Windows phone experience.”
