LG releases ultra-portable Windows 7 powered notebook with all-day battery life

View Comments

LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator in mobile communications, recently announced the launch of its flagship LG Widebook T380. This 13.3-inch slim and light notebook packs Intel’s ultra low voltage (ULV) processor to improve mobility and boost battery life.

The longer battery life doesn’t come at the expense of speed, though, as the Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 ULV 1.3GHz processor, paired with up to 4GB DDR2 memory, doubles the performance of a netbook fitted with an Atom CPU while consuming 60% less power than a normal CPU. A standard 8-cell battery allows consumers to use it for up to 10.5 hours between charges; enough for a long flight or an entire day of working on the road. The LG T380 is a road warrior’s dream, as the slim design measures only 25mm thick and tips the scales at a scant 1.89kg.

“An emerging trend in the notebook market is for consumers to look towards products with long-lasting batteries blended with desktop performance,” said Mr H.S Paik, President of LG Electronics Gulf FZE. “We are intently focusing on enhancing mobility and connectivity while ensuring productivity. In light of this, we believe that the LG T380 is at the forefront of notebook design and engineering, and helps LG cement its position as a leader in the mobile computing industry.”

Intel launches all new 2010 Intel Core processor family in the Kingdom, full support for Windows 7

View Comments

Intel Corporation introduced its all new 2010 Intel Core family of processors to the Saudi market, delivering unprecedented integration and smart performance, including Intel Turbo Boost Technology for laptops, desktops and embedded devices.

The introduction of new Intel Core i7, i5 and i3 chips coincides with the arrival of Intel’s groundbreaking new 32 nanometer (nm) manufacturing process – which for the first time in the company’s history – will be used to immediately produce and deliver processors and features at a variety of price points, and integrate high-definition graphics inside the processor.

Intel has unveiled more than 25 processors, including new Intel Core i7, i5 and i3 processors. More than 400 laptop and desktop PC platform designs are expected from computer makers worldwide based on these products. Multiple systems from different PC manufacturers are already on shelves in retail outlets in the Saudi Arabia, with expectations that the range will expand in the next coming weeks for greater customer choice.

New 2010 Intel Core processors are manufactured on the company’s 32nm process, which includes Intel’s second-generation high-k metal gate transistors. This technique, along with other advances, helps increase a computer’s speed while decreasing energy consumption.

“We are excited today to showcase our latest and greatest family of processors to our valued partners, retailers and customers, in the gulf region. For the first time, there’s a new family of Intel processors with the industry’s most advanced technology available immediately at virtually every PC price point,” said Abdulaziz Al-Nogahaither, Intel General Manager for Saudi Arabia.

“These smart processors adapt to an individual’s needs, automatically providing a ‘boost’ of performance for everyday applications. They become energy efficient to the point of shutting down processing cores or reducing power consumption to provide performance when people need it, and energy efficient when they don’t,” concluded Al-Noghaither.
