Tell us who you are?
Howdy, I’m Saleh Nabeel Alsaffar from Kuwait and I’m a student at the Computer Engineering Department of Kuwait University. I should be graduated by the time this interview is published. I’ve been an MSP at Kuwait University for 2 years now and I love programming and developing applications. Actually, it is one of my hobbies since I was a kid.

Tell us about your University?
Kuwait University was founded on 1966 and consist of several colleges, one of them is the College of Engineering and Petroleum (established by 1974) which is the one I’m admitted to. The college compromised of seven departments which are: Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial and Systems Management Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, and Architecture. All those seven departments are accredited by ABET.

Tell us about your MSP history, when were you awarded?
Joined the MSP program when I got invited by Microsoft and Dr. Thalaya Alfozan to the MSP Boot Camp in Dubai on 21st November 2008. It is there where I realized the awesomeness of the MSP role for students and the opportunity for me to be in touch with Microsoft and my fellow colleagues.

.Net Club launched at Al-Azhar University, Palestine

Al-Azhar University, PalestineLaila AbuDahi, the newly selected Microsoft Student Partner from Al-Azhar University-Gaza worked with a team composed of 8 students including Alaa AlAnqar, Ann Abdelwahed, Haneen Baghdadi, Mahmoud ElMadhoun, Ashraf ElMadhoun, Hazem AbuHabib, Ayman Dahlan and Abdullah El-Khoudary to launch the first ever .net club at Al-Azhar University in Gaza. Around 200+ students, teachers and other interested people attended the event.

The main point of launching this community is to showcase the idea of .net clubs initiatives around the world, what is .net club, its activities and how it can benefit students and help them improve their skills.

Tell us who you are?
I am Rand Khalaf from Bethany, West Bank, Al-Quds University MSP and senior student graduating this summer with major in computer science and minor in business management.

Tell us about your University?
Al-Quds University was founded in the late 70’s by combining 4 faculties back then, then other faculties were added by years to become today one of the biggest universities in the west bank. As for the IT & CS department – which was established in the Academic Year 1983/1984 – considered one of the oldest in Palestine. It offers two undergraduate programs leading to a Bachelor degree in Computer Science (CS) and in Information Technology (IT). The IT program is offered in two tracks: Networks and Communication and Management Information Systems (MIS). The department also introduced a graduate program leading to the M.Sc. in Computer Science in the Academic Year 2001/2002.

Meet Daniel Andrew Chileshe – MSP from Tshwane University of Technology, South Africa

My name is Daniel Andrew Chileshe, I am 21 years old, four months short of 22 and in my 4th and final year of University. I am studying a BTECH IT degree, majoring in Business Applications. I am a Zambian by nationality, although I was born and raised in Botswana and this was obviously the stepping stone in my education. Primary school was attended in Botswana, Secondary school partially in Zimbabwe at Falcon College as well as John Mackenzie School in Botswana. Towards my final years of Secondary school, I decided to challenge myself with my first tertiary qualifications, which were successfully achieved from NIIT Botswana at the age of 18 (2006), my two qualifications were namely:

  • Certified Database Designer and Administrator
  • Honors Diploma in Network Engineering

This formed a complete exit satisfaction in addition to my Cambridge “O”, “AS”, and “A- levels”. Aside my hard work, I believe to be a self-inspired, motivated, spontaneous ball of energy always ready for a new power station to charge. My hobbies include Reading, Writing, DJ-ing, Travelling, Watching inspirational documentaries as well as Movies, Gym, Golf, Photography and Internet & Software Development

Tell us about your University?
Tshwane University of Technology is a diverse institution, covering a large syllabus. The University is situated in the Capital City of South Africa “Tshwane”, formerly known as “Pretoria”. I form part of the ICT Faculty, which is divided into seven departments. The ICT Faculty has recently moved to a town called Soshanguve, which is located approximately 20KM/12.4 Miles South, away from Pretoria CBD. The student environment is friendly and positive, incorporating different cultures, both at lecture and student levels. Residential services are provided to students, as well as gymnasium, library, food catering, sports facilities, and health care services.

Hi, I’m Merve Bayramusta. I’m studying at Computer Engineering Department of Ege University and this is my last year as a student. I’m also MSP of the Ege University and I’m interested in developing windows and web applications. In addition to I’m studying Agent Oriented Software Engineering and Multi-Agent Systems recently.

Tell us about your University?
Ege University was founded in 1955 and located in İzmir, Turkey. It has one of the biggest campus in Turkey and also an university hospital is included. Our university has lots of social, health and education opportunities for the students.

Tell us about your MSP history, when were you awarded?
After having an internship at Microsoft for 45 days, I decided not to take apart from the Microsoft Community. So I applied from Ege University as an MSP and I was awarded in October 2009 for the 2009-2010 academic term.

I am Ezgi KAYSI. I’m 20 years old and I’m 3rd year student at Yasar University and studying computer engineering department. Also, I’m Erasmus student of information technology at KHLEUVEN ( Katholieke Hoogeschool Leuven ) in Belgium now. I am MSP of Yasar University during 2009- 2010. Also, I am manager of Marro.ws project in Turkey.

Founded in 2001, young Yasar University is an academic institution that acknowledges the universal identity of a scientific organization with enthusiasm, genuineness and devotion with its 300 staff members, 200 being academics, and 2600 students in İzmir; the city of the Aegean’s civilized, humane and art and science conscious people.

I was awareded to msp this year 2009-2010. I am happy to be member of MSP and Microsoft groups. Unfortunately, I left my role of MSP because of my Erasmus program. But I want to be MSP next year again.

Petra’s .Net Club Students represented Microsoft at University Job Fair

The Job Fair of University of Petra for the year of 2010 was officially opened with the attendance of several national and international companies across Jordan. The .net club students of University of Petra represented Microsoft in this event. They talked about Microsoft “Student 2 Business” program, which was created to assist students in getting the most suitable jobs right after their graduation in the major companies. There was a huge number of students who registered for this program as they never heard about this program before, so they showed enthusiasm about it.

Ahmad Barqawi, the Microsoft Student Partner in Petra University represented Microsoft in the closing ceremony. Other students who represented Microsoft during the event were:

The Islamic University of Gaza ( IUG ), independent Palestinian university, It is the first higher education institution to be established in Gaza, founded on 1978 and stilled to 1991 one and only. It’s the biggest university in Gaza Strip and one of the best universities in Palestine. It comprises 10 faculties (Medicine, IT, Engineering, science, Nursing, Commerce, Education, Art, Shariah & Law, and Ussol ElDeen).

My name is Soumow ATITALLAH; I am 23 years old, a computer engineering student; serious and very motivated. I am a person who has always new ideas, a true passionate by new technologies. I love what I do and I’ll do everything to achieve my goals. My achievements are:

Tell us about your University?
The Faculty of Sciences of Tunis (FST) , its full name is Faculty of Mathematical Sciences, Physical and Natural of Tunis It is a faculty in the campus of El Manar University in Tunis (Tunisia). It depends on the University of Tunis – El Manar. FST was founded in 1960 and moved into the former premises of the Institute of Higher Studies in Tunis on the streets of Rome (downtown).

In 1974, she stood on the hill of El Manar, next to the “École nationale d’ingénieurs de Tunis” (National School of Engineering of Tunis) , place of its current location. Before 1968 the primary mission of the FST was to train secondary school teachers in mathematics, physical sciences and natural sciences (biology and geology). Two branches of the third cycle in the late 1960s were added and focused on marine biology and physics of solids.
Organization: The FST is organized by discipline into six departments:

  • Department of Mathematics (the oldest)
  • Department of Physics
  • Department of Chemistry
  • Department of Biology
  • Department of Geology
  • Department of Computer Science (most recent)

“Windows 7 for Geeks” event by Emerging .NET Devs

Emerging .NET Devs recently organized a house full event on “Windows 7 for Geeks” at Microsoft Innovation Center, Karachi, Pakistan. The event primarily focused on user experience and why it is important for your application to utilize capabilities of Windows 7 using API etc. Some cool multi-touch capabilities of Windows 7 including letter recognition, zoom in and out was also demonstrated at the event. Meet Matteo Emili – Visual Studio Team System MVP from Italy

Hi! My name is Matteo, I’m an Italian guy really passionate about ALM and IT in general. In fact, despite I’m a developer, I love to be in contact with subjects such as IT Infrastructure, Virtualization, etc. I’m currently in the first year of University. Moreover, I’m the first ever Italian both MVP and Microsoft Student Partner. :)

Tell us about your MVP history, when were you first awarded?
My first (and only, at the time of writing) award came in January 2010. What a nice Christmas present, isn’t it?

What do you do in order to keep up with latest tools and technologies?
I participate at as much meetings as I can, both online and offline. Newsletters, websites, blogs, everything is right to catch up “the latest headline”. I love Betas, and then my Connect home is filled with every kind of stuff which might interest me. Hyper-V (and before Virtual Server) is a great aid, it allows me to do things otherwise impossible.

What does being an MVP mean to you?
Being a MVP means being inside a great group, made of great people. When you get in touch with them, you can feel their greatness. It’s not just a technical aspect, it’s more…it’s a 360 degrees experience. People make difference.

I’m “Mohammad Arafat” Yasein, MSP of Yarmouk University in Jordan. Fourth year student, Computer Information System as a main major, and Business Administration as a minor major, I’m an executive secretary in one of the biggest community serving organizations in Jordan (THE CONSERVATION OF THE HOLY QURAN SOCIETY – http://www.hoffaz.org).

One of the best universities in the Middle East, & it’s classified as one of the most active universities in researches & quality of teaching and it’s famous by economy faculty. It’s located in Irbid, it’s classified as a humanity university, it has a well-known Hejjawi faculty of engineering and science faculty.

My university ( Hashemite university ) is my baby ;) The Hashemite University (HU) is the fifth state university in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. It is located on the outskirts of the city of Zarqa to the east (about 45 minutes drive) of the capital Amman. Al-Zarqa Governorate is the second most populated Governorate in the country. The Royal Decree ordaining the establishment of the Hashemite University was issued in June 1996, it has 13 faculty ( science , economy , engineering , educational of science , Arts , medicine , physical education and sport , allied health science , nursing , information technology IT , natural rescores and environment , tourism , childhood , )
