Microsoft Office 2014 (Office 15) Screenshots and Details Leaked!

Office 15 is the next major iteration of Microsoft’s productivity suite and the successor of Office 2010, which was built using the codename Office 14. The first leaked screenshots and details of Office 15 / Microsoft Office 2014 are now available in the wild, at just four months after Office 2010 was released to manufacturing, and just a couple of months since the General Availability deadline.

According to Neowin “The first of the two features is the “Microsoft Limestone Test Application”, which appeared in beta builds of Office 2010 before it was released. Not much is known about this application or what it does exactly, but it has previously surfaced in test builds of Office before being removed.

Softpedia also reports that Microsoft is planning on integrating a KMS activator into office 15, making it easier for companies using volume licenses to activate their Office 2014 installations quickly.”

Opening Excel 2010 Workbooks in earlier versions of Excel

View Comments

It is reasonable to expect that after migrating to Excel 2010, users will continue to share workbooks with others that are still working with earlier versions of Excel. The Excel workbook formats (XLSX, XLSB, XLSM) in Excel 2010 are the same formats introduced in Excel 2007. Excel workbooks saved in Excel 2010 can be opened directly in Excel 2007.

There are two ways to facilitate sharing files across versions of Excel prior to Excel 2007: The Excel 2010 user can use the Save As command to save the workbook in an earlier file format, or Excel 2000–Excel 2003 users can download the Compatibility Pack to open a workbook saved in the Excel 2007–2010 file format. Download the Compatibility Pack from the Microsoft Web site.

New Certification Program Launched for Microsoft Office 2010

View Comments

Today, Microsoft launches new Certification Program for Office 2010 that will allow students and professionals to earn certification as Specialists, Experts and Masters. A Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification helps validate proficiency in using Microsoft Office 2010 and meets the demand for the most up-to-date skills on the latest Microsoft technologies.

Lutz Ziob, General Manager of Microsoft Learning, says this year’s MOS certification program was designed to highlight mobility in Microsoft applications. “Office 2010 frees users from one computer, or even one type of access device,” he explains. “Through Office 2010 you can access your documents through either your smartphone or PC.” Ziob says that with its emphasis on SharePoint Server as a collaboration tool, the new MOS certification will ensure people know how to access documents from a number of different points. “The economy is tough these days,” says Ziob. “It’s not easy for graduates to find jobs. These skills are valuable in the workplace, and someone who has mastered them — and has the certification to prove it — has a competitive advantage.”
