Microsoft and JEI launch first Innovative Education Forum in Jordan
Under the Patronage of His Excellency Dr. Khaled Al Karaky, the Minister of Education, Microsoft Jordan launched the 1st annual local Innovative Education Forum (IEF) in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Jordan Education Initiative (JEI) to celebrate the impressive work of local educators helping students realize their full potential through the Virtual Classroom Tour (VCT).
36 teachers from 25 schools, including Discovery Schools, Madrasati Schools and other public schools across the Kingdom, submitted their own technology-integrated projects through the use of the VCT, in order to compete in the local IEF and go on to participate in IEF Arabia.
MoICT builds on Jordan e-Government Program, enhances governmental institutions experiences by implementing Microsoft’s ESB
As part of their continuous efforts to support the Jordan e-Government Program, Microsoft Jordan and STS, Jordan’s leading IT service and enterprise solution provider and Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, have successfully developed and delivered the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) to the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology.
The ESB was customized for the Government of Jordan to help enhance the user experience by facilitating the integration and collaboration of various cross-government e-services, allowing them to provide their services more efficiently and accurately. The ESB will also enable governmental institutions to share and exchange data, verify identification numbers, ensure data security and execute payments in a more convenient, safe and cost-effective manner. The unified infrastructure and central connection system will connect government institutions to provide a safe and flexible environment for e-services that will deliver more value and convenience to the end users.
Microsoft and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization sign strategic technical partnership agreement
Microsoft and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) signed a partnership and technical cooperation agreement in the presence of Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman of the United National Global Alliance for ICT and Development (UN-GAID), TAG-Org chairman and CEO and Director of Microsoft Jordan Ms. Rula Al-Amouri.
WThis partnership, which renders TAG-Org to be the first Arab company that signs an agreement with Microsoft in this field, includes a number of joint ventures the most important of which is the first initiative regarding computers for schools and universities in the Arab world- the Arab-Laptop Computer Project (TAG-TOP) manufactured with the highest international standards to become an essential support for the educational sector.
Network Equipment Technologies delivers Microsoft Office Communications Server solution to Greater Amman Municipality
Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. announced today that with its partner, Professional Advanced Infrastructure Solutions (PAIS), it has delivered a Microsoft Office Communications Server solution to the Greater Amman Municipality.
The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) is responsible for delivering public services to a largely urban community in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and is committed to playing an active role in helping Jordan become an information and communications technology hub for the region.
Microsoft’s financial industry partners demonstrate customized solutions to Jordan Ahli Bank
Microsoft Jordan organized an event today to demonstrate to Jordan Ahli Bank the various customized solutions that Microsoft’s partners can deliver to the financial services and banking industry in Jordan. This event was sponsored by Microsoft Jordan’s Gold Certified Partner and Large Account Reseller for Jordan Ahli Bank, Specialized Technical Services (STS).
This comes after a Memorandum of Understanding that was signed between Jordan Ahli Bank and Microsoft Jordan in May 2010, in which Microsoft will provide the necessary resources to the Bank to build IT capacity and develop areas of competencies. Microsoft will also support Jordan Ahli Bank’s roadmap of transformation to develop into the ‘Bank of the Future,’ by deploying the latest innovations from Microsoft technologies.

Minister of Social Development attends Microsoft Jordan’s NGO Connection Day
Under the Patronage of Her Excellency Hala Bseiso Lattouf, the Minister of Social Development, Microsoft Jordan organized the ‘NGO Connection Day‘ in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development on Thursday June 17th at the Sheraton Hotel, with the attendance of 250 active NGOs and civil society organizations.
Her Excellency Hala Lattouf, stated “NGOs and civil society play a significant role in our community as fundamental decision makers that directly affect the sustainable development of our society with regards to knowledge and education and it is the responsibility of both the private and public sector to provide them with as much support as we can.”
She added, “Everyday IT is becoming even more important in our lives and we are increasingly becoming dependent on it to successfully complete our tasks and duties. Nuqul Group renewed the Enterprise Agreement under Software Assurance with Microsoft Jordan, through Large Account Reseller and Gold Certified Partner STS, as part of its efforts to realize full business potential by enabling Microsoft solutions, products and services across Nuqul Business Units in the Mena region.

Microsoft signs MoU with Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Society, Shabakat al Ordon, Int@j and Meydan to support ICT start ups and entrepreneurs
Under the Patronage of His Excellency Marwan Jumaa, Minister of Information and Communications Technology (MoICT), Microsoft has signed a MOU with Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Society, Shabakat Al Ordon, int@j and Meydan to support the Microsoft Innovation Academy program in developing the technical, business and operational skills of ICT start-ups and entrepreneurs in order to accelerate their growth and success.
The Innovation Academy program, the second phase of the BizSpark program and an initiative launched by the Microsoft Innovation Center (MIC), is a learning path for startups & entrepreneurs designed to help participants in the initial phases of a start-up and enable them to move to the next step in developing their projects. The MOU signed between Microsoft and its partners will create a set of policy recommendations and define the business, operations and technical tracks of the program that will support the sustainability and the successful execution of the Innovation Academy.
Meet Mohamed Saleh – SharePoint Server MVP from Jordan
Tell us who you are?
My name is Mohamed Saleh, Palestinian living in Jordan; I work as a platforms consultant for Devosis, Amman. I am SharePoint Server MVP and also the leader of Jordan .NET User Group (Jordev.NET ) Jordev is the leading User Group in Amman with over 1000 registered members. My experience in the IT field is spread across different technologies, and my main focus is on Microsoft Application Platforms including SharePoint, TFS, AppFabric, Windows Azure, and Microsoft Dynamics xRM Platform.
As my community activities, currently I am working to increase the awareness about adapting SharePoint 2010 technologies as a development platform, Open Data, and Microsoft Application Platform in Jordan communities; i also help in building the technical communities in Palestine.
Tell us about your MVP history, when were you first awarded?
I was first awarded in April 2008 as a Microsoft Visual C# MVP.
What do you do in order to keep up with latest tools and technologies?
I like to early adapt the new technologies, and testing it out, in addition to that, I am a subscriber of many blogs and forums and of course reading books and articles.
Microsoft Jordan launches Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010
Under the Patronage of His Excellency Marwan Jumaa, Minister of Information and Communications Technology (MoICT), Microsoft Jordan held the official launch event for the company’s next wave of business productivity solutions including Office 2010, SharePoint 2010 and Exchange Server 2010, at the Sheraton Hotel Amman that was attended by over 250 members of Jordan’s leading business and ICT community.
Microsoft Jordan’s Country Manager Mrs. Rula Ammuri delivered a keynote presentation on Microsoft’s next generation business software which provides the best productivity tools across the PC, phone and browser. The products released have been specifically developed to meet the changing requirements of customers enabling increased collaboration, mobility and secure access to data.
Microsoft Jordan to support Amman Chamber of Industry’s 10,000 members with world-class solutions
Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI), a non-profit organization that represents the industrial sector in Jordan, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Microsoft Jordan, whereby Microsoft will offer the 10,000 members of the ACI with world-class solutions tailored according to each industry’s needs to transform the way they do business and help them become more competitive.
As part of the MoU, Microsoft will work with each ACI member to understand their industry needs and provide solutions that address those needs. Ultimately, this will help the members increase their productivity and efficiency, in addition to providing them with assistance in the introduction and proper adoption of the latest technologies, including Cloud Computing Services, enabling them to protect and maximize their investments in IT.
Microsoft Jordan sponsors Graduate Internship Program through int@j
Microsoft Jordan and the Information Technology Association of Jordan (int@j) announced today the launch of the Community Technology Skills Program (CTSP), which is part of the Graduate Internship Program (GIP). Microsoft will provide int@j with a grant value of $130,000 to train and certify up to 200 higher-education students using the latest innovations from Microsoft, and which could ultimately reach up to 500 students through live meeting and broadcasting training sessions.
The CTSP was launched under the Patronage of His Excellency Dr. Ibrahim Omoush, Minister of Labour (MoL) and His Excellency Marwan Juma, Minister of Information and Communications Technology (MoICT). The ministries are the main funders of the Graduate Internship Program, which was launched in cooperation the USAID Jordan Economic Development Program (Sabeq), as well as int@j and Jordan Computer Society.
Thaqafa takes up SSS Process for SharePoint based document sharing
SSS Process has recently concluded installing Microsoft SharePoint platform for document sharing to the advantage of “Thaqafa” company. The Jordanian-Saudi Company, specialized in building electronic governmental applications and framing software solutions, stated that the platform which is based on Microsoft’s international technology is presented to answer for the need to automate Thaqafa’s internal and external operations.
To add a bit of twist to its user-friendly interface, SSS Process’s platform provides a suitable infrastructure for employees to interact with documents. It develops efficiency, high speed operations and ease of access to databases for information, managing given for specific privileges for users or departments.
Illustrating a tailored feature, Eng. Alaa Ensheiwat, Chief Executive Officer of SSS Process, said:
“We’ve added K2 engine to Microsoft SharePoint platform to increase its level of operations. K2 allows department managers for extra, customized access to perform relevant edits on files, before authorizing and enlisting them in the company’s database.”
