Nahel.Com opts for Microsoft browser to improve customer experience
Microsoft Gulf today announced that Nahel.com, UAE’s fastest growing online shopping website has opted for Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) in efforts to further improve its customer’s online shopping experience in the region. Improvement in performance and new features including Instant Search Box, Web Slices, Accelerators, SmartScreen Filter, InPrivate Browsing and Domain Highlighting gives Nahel.com a competitive edge whereby its customers can have a more secure, reliable, faster and richer experience when shopping online.
Nahel.com has customized IE8′s unique feature-’Web Slice’ to include live and up-to-date information for its ‘Deal of the Day’ segment, that gives customers the ability to look for great offers without the need to visit the nahel.com website. Another popular feature of IE8 is ‘Accelerators’ that enable users to quickly look up a particular item without having to visit the actual website – example a user who is reading reviews of a product on any website, can simply highlight the product name, click on the Accelerator icon that appears next to the highlighted text and quickly get the available listings from Nahel.com.
Internet Explorer 8 – Using InPrivate Browsing and Filtering

If you browse the Internet on a shared computer like a home computer with family members or one at the kiosk or Internet cafe, you might want to keep your browsing history private. InPrivate Browsing in Internet Explorer 8 allows you to browse in private by preventing the storage of certain data on the PC you are using like Cookies, Browsing History, Temporary Files, any passwords that you type, addresses you enter, form data and queries.

So to start InPrivate Browsing, go to the Safety button. First so, let’s click Safety and choose Delete Browsing History, notice the shortcut, Ctrl+Shift+Delete will do that and we will make sure History, Cookies, Temporary Files are all selected. When we click Delete, we are starting with a fresh history. We will click Safety again. Move down to InPrivate Browsing, Ctrl+Shift+P as in InPrivate. This actually opens up a brand new window and you will notice InPrivate appears in the Address bar and down below it’s in information about InPrivate browsing. So up here where the address should appear, we’ve got highlighted text, we can type anything we want.
Internet Explorer 8 – Exploring “User Interface”

Internet Explorer 8 ships with Windows 7 and it contains a number of new or enhanced features that are worth exploring. So let’s begin with a quick tour of the user interface, which by the way is going to simplify your browsing experience.

You can access Internet Explorer directly from the Explorer icon on the taskbar. It’s there by default. If you have removed yours though, don’t worry about it. Click the Windows Orb and go up to All Programs. You’ll find Internet Explorer 8 near the top left-hand side of the Start menu.

All right the first thing you see when you launch Windows Explorer is the homepage, which is set for you by default but you can select your own homepage. The other thing you are probably going to notice that if you’ve installed Windows Live Essentials, there is a toolbar containing some direct links to some of the features under Windows Live Essential, like the Mail program, and Photo gallery, etc. Now if you don’t see this, it means you haven’t installed Windows Live Essentials or you’ve turned it off, disabled this little add-on. To do that you can click the little X in the top left corner here next to your Windows Live toolbar and you can see this is going to disable your Windows Live toolbar. When we click Disable, it disappears. You can bring that back at any time.
Meet Faizan Baloch – MSP from Institute of Business Management, Pakistan

Tell us who you are?
My name is Faizan Baloch. I’m an MBA (final year) student, having a background of Computer Sciences. I’m from Karachi – Pakistan. I have a passion to play with technology and marketing. I’m an MSP of Institute of Business Management (IoBM) and under this designation I work like a communication channel between Microsoft Pakistan and IoBM (CBM). I have also worked on a couple of IT and Marketing projects. I’m also founder of an INETA chartered user group – CBM.net; which is an online meeting place for sharing technology related news with IoBM students. My main focus is to bridge the gap between ‘Business’ domain and ‘IT’ domain because both the entities can not survive if left alone.
Tell us about your University?
I’m student of Institute of Business Management (IoBM) Karachi – Pakistan which is also known as College of Business Management (CBM). It offers bachelor and master level graduate degree programs with majors in Accounting, Finance, HRM, Marketing, MIS, Supply Chain Management, Health Management, Industrial Engineering, Advertising etc. IoBM started its operations in 1995 as a small institution with a big hope and zeal. Over the years it has grown into a powerhouse amongst the reputed and best business schools in Pakistan. The driving force behind this was the leadership of the most experienced academic staff, dedicated professors and the continued support of the business community. The standards at IoBM are such that in 2005 the Higher Education Commission awarded her a 4-Star University status, which tells tales about the milestones achieved by this prestigious institution. IoBM is also Microsoft strategic alliance partner.
Tell us about your MSP history, when were you awarded?
I came across to work with team Microsoft at various Microsoft events in 2007 and at that time I served as an usher and I was actually the second in command (after MSP of my institute at that time) in conducting activities in coordination with team Microsoft. This way I got to know what MSP does ? and this way Microsoft came to know about my potential and when the MSP of that time (prior to me) got done with her tenure – she then recommended my name to our HOD who knew me as I was already running a society called Club-IT at my campus under his guidance, and it was March 2008 when my name was recommended for the MSP’ship to Microsoft by my HOD.
What do you do in order to keep up with latest tools and technologies while focusing on your education?
In order to get abreast of the latest tools and technologies – I regularly browse and read technology and business related blogs which provide me with a handful of information as what’s IN and what’s OUT. Plus, I also remain very keen to attend technology related talks, seminars, meetings, sessions which are being conducted by Microsoft at Microsoft Innovation Center Pakistan.
