Meet Michal Valasek – ASP/ASP.NET MVP from Czech Republic
Tell us who you are?
I’m 30 years old geek from Czech Republic, spending my live writing websites using technologies too young to be respectable, changing enough to keep me alert or obscure enough to be interesting. Also I’m trying to persuade developers around me to do the same – with varying levels of success.
Tell us about your MVP history, when were you first awarded?
I was first awarded when computers were made from wood and powered by a treadle. Or at least I remember it that way. It was about six or seven years ago, I was in the first batch of awarded MVPs in Czech Republic and if I recall correctly, I’m currently the longest serving one here.
What do you do in order to keep up with latest tools and technologies?
Read a lot of blog posts being delivered via several hundreds of RSS feeds. Choose some technologies you like and then play with them.
What does being an MVP mean to you?
Being MVP for me means to have a bigger whip when I need something from Microsoft. In my eyes, the MVP award is directed more towards the company itself than outside. For my customers and readers it does not matter if I’m MVP or not. As long as I’m able to help, it’s good. MVP means than I’m easily able to help. MVP mans that I can get information, support and other resources more easily, because the blue logo hovering over my head means that I’d pass the acquired knowledge further, not keep it just for myself.
