Microsoft Jordan hosts business intelligence solutions workshop for customers and partners in Jordan

Microsoft Jordan hosted a training workshop for 150 of its customers and partners on the increasing importance of effective and integrated business intelligence (BI) solutions that will help drive better decision making across organizations and government institutions, resulting in improved IT skills, reduced costs and enhanced business performance. The training workshop was exclusively sponsored by four Microsoft Partners that include STS, BEAT, ElixirSoft and Estarta.

The workshop was delivered by strategic consultant Rafal Lukawiecki who presented the attendees with training on what is required to deliver state-of-the-art reporting, analytic and performance management solutions using Microsoft BI. Lukawiecki, a frequent and popular speaker at Microsoft’s global events over the last 12 years, is a specialist in analyzing and forecasting trends in the field of Information Technology, BI, statistics, data mining, security and IT architecture.

Microsoft Jordan to focus on improving IT capabilities of health and educational sectors

Microsoft Jordan today announced that it will focus its efforts this year on improving the IT capabilities of the health and educational sectors, as part of Microsoft’s ongoing commitment to fueling Jordan’s economic growth and competitiveness.

Microsoft will work hand-in-hand with the Government, educational and health entities as well as various private sector organizations to cater to the IT needs of schools, universities, hospitals, clinics and other related organizations and institutions.

Mrs. Rula Ammuri, Microsoft Jordan Country Manager, stated: ”One of our key objectives for 2010 is to cater to the needs of two of the most important sectors in Jordan—education and health. These two sectors are in need of modernizing their IT infrastructures in order to better serve the citizens of Jordan. We will work alongside the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education to develop solutions that will help improve the processes, accessibility and provision of information, in addition to developing the IT skills of the personnel of Jordan’s health and educational sectors.”

Microsoft Jordan sponsors 100 students from the Graduate Internship Program

Microsoft Jordan is sponsoring 100 university graduates as part of a Graduate Internship and Employment Program that was launched in May 2009 by the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (MoICT), the Ministry of Labor (MoL), USAID’s Jordan Economic Development Program (SABEQ), and sector associations that include int@j and Jordan Computer Society. Microsoft Jordan is providing a number of free training courses that will help develop the IT skills of graduates hired under the Program and better prepare them for their careers in the IT industry.

The Government is helping graduates find suitable employment within the private sector, subsidizing 50% of each student’s salary during the first 12 months of their employment and 25% during the subsequent six months employment period. Every graduate hired under the Program also receives a two-week soft skills training course. Microsoft’s contribution to the Program will further expand the skills developed by the recruits.

Microsoft Jordan launches Windows 7 deployment workshops for local IT professionals

Microsoft Jordan has launched a series of Windows 7 deployment workshops at the Microsoft Innovation Center (MIC), to provide local IT professionals with hands on experience and in-depth understanding of the functionality, deployment and compatibility of Windows 7 that will make their day-to-day work processes simpler and more efficient.

The Microsoft Innovation Center (MIC) in Jordan is the first MIC in the world to deliver the 16 deployment workshops that started on January 17th and will continue until June 27th, 2010. The workshops are free of charge and each has a duration of two full working days.

Rula Ammuri, Country Manager of Microsoft Jordan stated, “The Windows 7 workshops have been designed to assist local IT professionals to familiarize themselves with the various new features of Microsoft’s latest operating system, enabling them to maximize the benefits that they and their organizations will gain from deploying Windows 7, including simpler and more efficient management of daily IT processes, enhanced software compatibility and effortless deployment and migration across their organization’s IT infrastructure.”

Microsoft Jordan – “Rula Ammuri” appointed as new Country Manager

Microsoft Jordan today announced the appointment of Mrs. Rula Ammuri as the company’s new Country Manager in Jordan. Mrs. Ammuri will be responsible for managing all of Microsoft’s operations in the Kingdom, driving future growth through building sustainable partnerships with the local IT ecosystem in addition to introducing the latest Microsoft innovations to the Kingdom.

Mrs. Ammuri stated – “I am delighted to have been appointed the new country manager for Microsoft Jordan and look forward to harnessing the great potential of the Kingdom’s IT sector in line with the National ICT Strategy. Besides overseeing Microsoft activities in Jordan, I look forward to having the opportunity, and will make every effort, to facilitate the use and adoption of technology in both the public and private sectors and ensure that our customers, partners and the wider community benefit from Microsoft’s wide range of innovative technologies.”

Mrs. Ammuri has a long and successful background in ICT. Until last July she was the Chief Information Technology Officer of Tunisie Telecom seconded by Emirates International Telecommunication Company, the Strategic Partner of Tunisie Telecom. Mrs. Ammuri led a major IT Transformation Program to build the IT Infrastructure and Solutions of the company and enable the Mobile, Fixed, and Internet business of Tunisie Telecom.

ASEZA upgrades to Microsoft Windows 7

Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority

Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) has become another early adopter of Windows 7, deploying the software on 500 of its machines across all departments and offices in Aqaba, providing its 800 employees with the opportunity to be some of the Kingdom’s first users of the latest operating system developed by Microsoft.

Omar Oduibat, Information Systems Director at ASEZA, said, “What I like most about Windows 7 is the compatibility with existing devices and software applications, making the migration from a previous version of Windows quick, easy and cost effective.”
