Tell us who you are?
My name is Tomislav Bronzin, I am Solution Architect, Consultant and founder of CITUS Internet Development Company, based in Zagreb, Croatia. Besides being an MVP, title, I am also a Microsoft Regional Director for 8 years and Microsoft Certified Trainer. I have more than 18 years of real-life experience with Microsoft technologies with current interest in development of distributed applications specialized in Unified Communication Application Development, .NET Smart Client and Mobile Solutions technology, resulting in having 2 patents in those areas.
Tell us about your MVP history, when were you first awarded?
I was first MVP in the Croatia, renewing my status in past 8 years. The reason for that is my Community work, as well because I am regular speaker at Microsoft conferences in the region (including Microsoft TechEd Europe from 2004-2009, WinDays, DevDays, CodeCamps, KulenDayz, Vizija, Sinergija, NT Konferenca, etc.), as well as at several academic conferences. My colleagues MVP’s Andrej Radinger, Zeljka Knezovic and Dobrisa Adamec and me are organizing and speaking at annual Mobility Day Regional Conference.
What do you do in order to keep up with latest tools and technologies?
I am participating at Live Meetings/Chats/Conferences and I am learning from available on-line resources, as well as from Train-the-Trainer workshops.
What does being an MVP mean to you?
Being an MVP is a huge honor and responsibility! People is “expecting“ that you have knowledge of your area of expertise (and sometimes even broader) and you better not disappoint them
. Also, being MVP means that you have opportunity to meet great people and hear different approaches to solve either ICT technical or business problems. Being an MVP for me is also opportunity to being able to build – what we call – Microsoft Community of ITPro and developers.
What do you do when you are not building software’s?
I am speaking at User Groups, conferences, doing trainings and teaching other developers, solution architects and ITPro’s. Also, I am helping in organizing of Microsoft Community in Europe as an INETA Europe Vice President (http://europe.ineta.org), especially in CEE region and I am co-founder of http://www.mscommunity.net.
If you could ask Steve Ballmer one question about Microsoft, what would it be?
What is his vision on Unified Communication – as a development platform and how Microsoft is planning to integrate web (Silverlight) and Windows Mobile – not just as a “consumers” but also as a development platform in the future, possible as a part of Cloud Computing?
Had a chance to attend “MVP Global Summit”? When and how was your experience?
I have been at all MVP Global Summits and I had great experience to have opportunity to meet and talk with colleagues from Microsoft Product Groups and meet fellow MVP’s!
What makes you a great MVP?
I hope that I am great MVP
. I am always willing to talk, share and teach, but also to listen and learn!
What you think about the MVP’s role in promoting technology in your region?
MVP’s are not just experts, but also Community Leaders that are leading User Groups and on-line communities and in that way promoting (and supporting!) Microsoft technology in the Region.
What is in your computer bag?
1 to 3 laptops (depending if I am doing METRO trainings for Unified Communication Development or Windows 7), backup battery, several USB/e-SATA HDD’s, Smartphone, PDA, a lot of different cables, gadgets and USB sticks, DVD’s ..
Who are your top 5 favorite MVPs?
- Andrej Radinger
- Dobrisa Adamec
- Zeljka Knezovic
- Damir Tomicic
- Damir Dobric
If you get a chance to suggest one conference in your region? What would it be and why?
I would definitely recommend (annually held in May/June) KulenDayz Conference – http://kulendayz.mscommunity.net/ – Microsoft Community together with Microsoft Croatia with support from INETA are organizing annually regional community conference KulenDayz. Conference is bringing together leading IT experts from the region with local IT Community and giving them a chance to spend a weekend filled with 18 attractive sessions presented by top speakers and relaxing at Kopacki Rit Nature Park and enjoying unspoiled nature.
The idea is to make a conference “a little different”, so together with traditional sessions presented in conference halls there will be a number of unplugged Open Space and Chalk & Talk sessions presented at Gazebos in Ethno-Village. In Open Space sessions all participants are invited to co-create the agenda and pick the discussion topics.
This conference brings together people from Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium, Italy, USA, and Germany …
What is the best thing that has happened since you have become an MVP?
I have met a large number of very intelligent and experienced people that are prepared to share their knowledge with me and other members of Microsoft Community.
Who are your top 5 technical experts in your professional circle (from your country)?
- Andrej Radinger
- Dobrisa Adamec
- Zeljka Knezovic
- Bernard Katic
- Dean Vitner
Which was the last book you read?
97 Things Every Software Architect Should Know.
If there was one place you could travel to, right now, where would it be and why?
I would really, really like to go to Redmond to attend Global MVP Summit!
How can one be a part of MVP Club? Any suggestions for them?
Give to the community one thing that will not make you poor: your knowledge and experience – if you share it you will not lose it. In return, you will meet different people, from different part of the Earth that will share the same thing with you! Learn every day, and share what you have learned with others!
Any Message you want to give to the readers of MicrosoftFeed?
These are exciting times: we have (yet again) great operating systems Windows 7/Windows Server 2008/R2, SQL Server 2008, Exchange Server 2010, as well as new tools that are coming like Visual Studio 2010 and Expression Studio 4.0. Also, everyone is expecting great things from Silverlight 4.0, Cloud Computing and Windows Mobile 7. So watch carefully what the www.microsoftfeed.com will post about it!
