In 2008, Microsoft announced that they will giveaway latest Microsoft Developer and Designer tools to millions of students all around the world at zero cost that will help them in their academic and career success. The Microsoft DreamSpark student program provides students to download broad range of software absolutely free. Not only they are giving software but also free distributing free coupons of Microsoft Certification exam and some other eLearning offers.

Following is the list of software available to download:

  • Visual Studio 2008/2005 Professional Edition
  • Expression Studio 3
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition
  • Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition, with SP2 32-bit
  • Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition 32-bit
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition 64-bit
  • Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 2008 R2 Academic Edition
  • Microsoft CCR and DSS Toolkit 2008 R2

In order to apply for DreamSpark program, you need to visit the DreamSpark website, sign in with your live account and provide your Country, College/University information and some other identification information. Also remember that Microsoft will not ship you any DVDs instead all the software are available online to download with license key.

However, if you are student from Pakistan, you may not find your University name there. So the DPE Team of Microsoft Pakistan led by Naveed Bajwa and consists of Talha Mahmood, Haseeb Shaukat & Jibran Jamshad are facilitating students through a simple registration process. All you have to do is to fill the form available here. So if you haven’t got your access code for DreamSpark either contact Microsoft Student Partner at your University or just fill the form.

Thanks Adil for the tip!
